Art Deco Wedding cake design

3 tiered Art Deco wedding cake
Art Deco Cake Topper
I have always felt that the Art Deco style lends itself well to wedding cake designs. So I was really happy when Julia came to me asking me to design an Art Deco style wedding cake for her . Julia had lots of ideas which were really helpful. The difficult bit was to translate the ideas into a cake language.   All the designs were very tricky to cut out and then paint in food colour. The cake topper is also made in sugar and Julia will be able to keep it in memory of the great day. The Venue was the roof garden on Kensington High Street on top of what used to be the original Derry and Tom's department store which opened in 1933, the perfect 1930's venue.

Turquoise wedding cake

It is a new era in cake making with the new food colourings that are coming over from the united states. I was quite worried when I was asked to make a turquoise wedding cake, but then I came across Ameri Colors. It was so easy to get this colour turquoise. I did not have to use a lot of colouring, which meant that the icing did not crack. This turquoise wedding cake can be made in as many tiers as you like. See more of my cakes on my new website www.weddingcakesdesign.co.uk with 4 wedding cake galleries, prices and procedures of how to chose your dream  cake. Any of my cakes can be made in Turquoise.

bauble wedding cakes

At last, I've plucked up the courage to create some bauble wedding cakes. They were not easy, but I'm sure you'll agree these bauble wedding cakes make a change!

Chocolate sponge, filled and covered in a rich butter cream, before being both iced then sprayed with edible food lustre paint. finished with the inevitable piping, they came out really well. see them on my new site, www.weddingcakesdesign.co.uk/, and facebook 'like' them if you wish!

Maria and Loucas 4 tier wedding cake

The finished cake with a regency style piped pattern around each tier.

This is Maria and Loucas's wedding cake. I call it the cake with many faces. It lookes different from every side. It is a cake for a grand occasion. See it on my new website http://www.weddingcakesdesign.co.uk/ on Gallery 4. You see it all there including the price.

Here is what Maria and Loucas had to say after the wedding:

'Franziska....
Where oh where do I begin?
I cannot thank you enough for all your help for our wedding.
The cake looked so elegant and beautiful.
Thank you so much Franziska for making all my ideas real and more.'

The cake from the back with a voluptuous drape of sugar roses, orchids, stephanotis and ivy leaves.

The four tier wedding cake without the regency piping design.

Purple wedding cake

Yet another wedding season is on its way. Heather and Rob's wedding was on the hottest April day on record. Heather's cake was a fruitcake on the bottom, followed by a chocolate and then a carrot cake on top. Her theme was purple and the cake was to be tall but without pillars. The beautiful sugar flower topper included roses, orchids, freesias, gerberas and lithianthus. The piped design on the side of the cakes was copied from the lace and pearl design on Heather's wedding dress. If this is the style of cake you are looking for, see more on my new website at http://www.weddingcakesdesign.co.uk/

Wedding cake of the year

This years most wanted cake has yet again  been the Nicolette cake. It's become one of the great classic cakes. The latest trend with my brides  has been the use of adventurous colours within their designs. It seems to work every time.
