Now that I am in the middle of my wedding season, have a look at Zeyhans cake. Pink is definitely the colour of this years wedding season. Now that we have gone away from having pillared wedding cakes, at last they are getting taller again, with many different styles of cake separators.I quite like the idea! I really enjoyed creating the silver lily piped design. A few diamante were put into the dummy cake on top to make it sparkle. I have not seen any edible diamante that work yet.

Wedding cake at Banqueting House

Here is Melissa's wedding cake competing with Rubens ceiling in the background. If you are an art lover then this is a spectacular venue for a wedding. I now wish I had taken more pictures, especially the picture of Charles 1st above the stairs up to the great Banqueting Hall. I got very distracted while setting up my wedding cake by the amazing ceiling! If you want to see more of my cakes just go to my website http://www.weddingcakedesign.net/

Here is what Melissa had to say about her cake; ' I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how happy we were with the beautiful cake that you made for us – it looked so impressive in that amazing hall and we had so many compliments from our guests, many of whom said it was the grandest (and most delicious) cake they had ever seen! So thank you very much for all the hard work that you put into it.'

What a wonderful compliment!

Melissa had a spectacular wedding at Banqueting House - what a wonderful Venue! Here is the top tier of her 5 tier wedding cake. Pink was the theme, a ring of roses with organza between each tier and on top stargazer lilies with pink roses.
The sparkly monogram topper came from Debbie at Cakes Steel Standing I really recommend Debbie if you like a monogram toppers; she is very helpful.

more compliments

Another satisfied customer for the VW camper van wedding cake - this time with a twist on the theme - cool surfers! "Hi Franziska -I just wanted to drop you a quick e-mail to let you know what a wonderful day we had, and how much pleasure your amazing cake gave us.
Everyone at the wedding was amazed by the campervan, Andy (groom) loved the surfboard and our twin boys, it simply could not have been better.
Tommy and Charlie recognised the vehicle as a VW, so your attention to detail passed the main test! It tasted so fantastic, that there is absolutely none left!
Thank you so much for all the hard work that you put into making it so perfect.
Thank you again
Karen & Andy"

Article in enfield advertiser

15 minutes of fame? Well, I featured in the local paper this week- they were running an article on how the recession is affecting local businesses. I still seem to be untouched as yet, and I believe that's down to care and attention to client's requirements.

Oh, and I had a lovely letter from JO..."Franziska, Just wanted to let you know that we were absolutely thrilled with our cake. If possible, it exceeded expectations both to look at and to taste. Simply gorgeous!"....read more and see her cakes here wedding cakes by franziska.

I am now in the full swing of the wedding cake season. Easter was very busy. Good Friday was Sam and Tony's wedding, here is their cake. I was rather pleased with creating this cake with pink coloured roses. Sam liked the idea of making the centre of the sugar roses darker, to give it more depth, it really worked. Their wedding was at Farnhams Hall hotel in Ware, what a stunning venue! Sam and Tony's cake was a chocolate cake, I think I will be repeating this particular cake a lot more times! I hope to be putting Sam's wedding cake onto my website soon. www.weddingcakedesign.net

wedding cakes by franziska -test globe of sugar flowersJust spent Sunday working out how to create a global sugar flower bouquet. It was relatively easy, although one had to be extra cautious not to break the flowers when pushing them into a polystyrene ball. The ball I placed into a round yogurt pot.  It fitted perfectly and secured the globe from rolling over. To hide the pot, I put a  strip of cardboard around and then covered it with ribbon. I think it will look nicer on an iced cake rather then a lump of polystyrene! Adding leaves, maybe berries or even a few sparkly bits which is very popular at the moment, will make it look even better. Back to making more roses; are there any brides out there who want wedding cakes with other flowers but roses?!! Have a look at my website www.weddingcakedesign.net .
